WikiLeaks Claims It No Longer Represents Edward Snowden

For a short while, it looked like Edward Snowden had found a new best friend in the form of WikiLeaks.

It didn't last long though, as now the organization is distancing itself from the whistleblower, saying that it has decided not to legally represent him and that it has no knowledge of his whereabouts.

The organization may try to put some space between it and Snowden to protect the whistleblower.

"This serves to state that the Law firm ILOCAD has decided not to represent Mr. Snowden, whose whereabouts are unknown," WikiLeaks said in a statement on its site.

"We continue to represent Mr. Assange and WikiLeaks as senior legal counsel in the defence of the fundamental right to freedom of information and expression," Baltasar Garzón, director of the ILOCAD law firm, and Julian Assange's lawyer wrote in the statement.

Over the weekend, he also claimed to represent Snowden, who was fleeing Hong Kong apparently for Ecuador, via Russia.

However, while there were reports of Snowden landing in Moscow and heading for Havana, Cuba, no one has been able to confirm whether he is in Russia or not.
