OpenELEC 3.1.0 Is Now Based on Linux Kernel 3.9


OpenELEC, an embedded operating system built specifically to run XBMC, the open source entertainment media hub, is now at version 3.1.0.

This is actually a testing version of the 3.2.x branch and it's not considered a stable release.

Highlights of OpenELEC 3.1.0:

• Mesa has been updated to version 9.1;
• Linux kernel has been updated to version 3.9;
• IPTV simple PVR addon support has been added;
• XBMC VPP support has been added;
• Initial VPN support has been implemented;
• Initial Tethering support for WLAN devices has been implemented;
• The OpenELEC settings addon has been improved.
