Firefox to Get "Close Tabs to the Left" Feature

As in most things, in browsers, it's the little things that count. Most modern browsers are fast, most can handle what the web can throw at them and most are reasonably feature-rich. For most people, the choice of prefered browser comes to familiarity and small, but useful features.

Firefox is now adding one of those small and useful features that make a difference, a "Close Tabs to the Right" feature.

This has happened to virtually everyone: you go to one page and, before you know it, you have 10 tabs opened with links from that page.

And, more often than not, when you're done with them you want to close them and go back to what you were doing.

But this either means closing them one at a time or closing the whole browser window which sometimes contains tabs you still need.

The "Close Tabs to the Right" feature fixes this. Since Firefox, by default, opens new tabs to the right of the current one, the tabs you want to close are all to the right. That said, for those using a right-to-left locale, the feature is labeled "Close Tabs to the Left."

The feature is now in Firefox 24 Nightly, which means it should land in the main stable channel in 12 weeks or so. The feature is already available in Chrome for example.
