Battlefield 3 Premium Has 3.5 Million Subscribers

The teams at developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts announce that the Premium service for Battlefield 3 has managed to attract 3.5 million subscribers during fiscal 2013, generating an overall revenue of 120 million dollars (96 million Euro).

The increase is significant when taking into account that during the previous quarter Premium only had about 2.9 million players.

Electronic Arts is looking to expand the core features of the service in the coming months and retool the entire concept for the upcoming Battlefield 4.

Premium is designed to challenge the Elite concept that Treyarch and Activision has implemented for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

The two first person shooter series will once again face off in the fall of this year, when Battlefield 4 will compete with the new Call of Duty: Ghosts.
