Pastor Gets Life Sentence in Second Wife's 2008 Murder

Arthur "A.B." Schirmer, the Jackson Township pastor convicted of killing his second wife in 2008, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.

As I wrote in January, 64-year-old Schirmer's case has been reopened in 2010, after her death was originally labeled an accident.

The Reeders United Methodist Church pastor used a blunt object to kill wife Betty Jean Schirmer and staged a car crash to cover up the crime.

Her blood was found in his garage and detectives figured out that the vehicle she was in was traveling at low sped, which prompted them to resume the investigation.

The Lebanon Daily News details that it took a jury 90 minutes to convict Schirmer after hearing witness testimonies over nine days.

Schirmer is still awaiting trial for the murder of his first wife, Jewel, who he claims fell fown the stairs in their Lebanon home in 1999.
