Vodafone Cell Tower in the UK Disabled Because of Nesting Rare Bird

Thanks to one nesting Peregrine Falcon, Vodafone now finds itself without one of its cell towers located in the city of Southampton, UK.

By the looks of it, said bird, which also happens to have a protected status, decided to nest precisely on top of the cell tower.

Therefore, when something went wrong with the signal, engineers found that they could do nothing to remedy the problem, simply because their trying to do so would have disturbed the peregrine falcon, sources say.

The transmitter was disabled back on April 9, and most wildlife researchers suspect that it will only be turned back on in June, when the birds are expected to leave their nest.

Vodafone has apologized for any inconveniences that this incident might have caused their customers, yet says that it is proud to help protect these birds.

Due to safety concerns, the exact location of the nest is not to be shared with the public.
