Fake Panda Cloud Antivirus Hides Data-Stealing DarkAngle Trojan
Researchers from Panda Labs have identified a malicious piece of software that poses as Panda Cloud Antivirus. The shady application’s icon almost perfectly replicates the genuine one, but that’s the only similarity between them.
The fake Panda Cloud Antivirus has been found to hide a nasty Trojan called DarkAngle which is designed to steal sensitive details such as passwords and online banking details.
Once it’s executed, the malicious element logs all the commands entered by the victim and sends them back to a command and control server. To make sure that it can harvest as much information as possible, the threat is loaded each time the computer is rebooted.
Furthermore, its makers have also implemented some antivirus evasion mechanisms.
If you want to download Panda Cloud Antivirus, you can get it from here or from the vendor's website. We advise you to be extra cautious when downloading applications from untrusted sources.
